Crew, Crush, Thunder earn finalist honors in season-opening tournament
Beach United Football Club kicked off an impressive spring season on March 2-3 at the Can-Am Cup in its hometown of Myrtle Beach, crowning three champions and three runners-up in their respective age divisions.
The BUFC Strikers, Lightning and Panthers captured division titles, while the Crew, Thunder and Crush posted second-place finishes. The Lions, Force and Wolves also took part in the tounament, which featured teams from all over the East Coast.
The Strikers went a perfect 4-0 to win the Boys U-11/12 Red Division, defeating the PISA Hurricanes 07s by a 2-1 score. It was the only goal the Strikers' allowed in the tournament.
The Lightning also went 4-0 and allowed only one goal all weekend en route to the U-10 Girls Division crown. They beat the PISA Hurricanes 3-0 in the final to earn the title.
The Panthers provided the other perfect weekend with a 4-0 showing in the U-14 Girls Division. They defeated the Cainhoy Cannons 1-0 in the championship match.
Beach United Football Club continues its spring season with league play and more tournaments in a quest to make the State Cup at the end of the season.
